The RS in the name stands for "Retro Sport", meaning classic sports car. Despite the classic look, but the Z900RS "hides" in his many modern and athletic details. The Kawasaki Z900RS was developed based on the Z900 and partly inspired by the Z1's 1970 Kawasaki.

The Kawasaki Z900RS 2018 is powered by a 948 cc four-cylinder engine and comes with a Z900. However, the engine is refined with a maximum power of about 110 horsepower at 8500 rpm cycle compared to 123 horsepower as on the Z900, while the torque also decreased from 97.9 Nm Also 72.53 Nm at 6500 rpm.
